Mendham Twp. NJ

6 beds | 5.2 baths | 5.63 Acres | MLS/ID#: 9010151

Description

The historic circa 1736 Cooper House has been expanded throughout the years.  Beautiful wide plank floors, deep set windows, exposed beams, and a chef's kitchen and breakfast room fitted with paneling from Pierre Deux in New York are some of the highlights. Situated on 5.6 private acres in an established Mendham Township neighborhood, the peaceful setting is enhanced by brick terraces, stone walls and gardens.

An inviting floor plan presents five bedrooms, four-and-one-half baths and three fireplaces. Notable gathering spaces include an expansive family room lined in bookcases and a pub room fitted with antique English paneling. The third floor features exposed stone walls, an office and storage rooms.

There is a separate legal rental or guest suite offering a great room with fireplace, kitchen, bedroom and bath. Completing the home is an attached three-car garage.  Two barns--one made of stone-are outbuildings that complete this bucolic setting.

About Mendham

Mendham Township is situated in the southern part of Morris County, several miles from the county seat of Morristown and about an hour’s drive from New York City.  Brookside and Ralston—once known by its Native American name of Roxiticus--are long-established hamlets in this picturesque township, where winding country roads, vast estate properties and notable historic sites impart a decidedly rural feel. Mendham Township and the smaller Mendham Borough are commonly referred to simply as Mendham.  The township was founded in 1749 and measures about 18 square miles.

People have been drawn to the natural beauty of Mendham Township for centuries; it has also been a more-recent home to notable residents including New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, actor and star of the Game of Thrones television series Peter Dinklage, and the late singer Whitney Houston.
